Y Knot Sailing
Y-Knot was founded in 1996 by a small group of disabled sailors and friends who wanted to create an accessible sailing program in the greater New York State Capital region. YMCA Camp Chingachgook on Lake George was a perfect location for the program, providing waterfront access, logistical support and facilities and accommodations for program activities and special events.
Y-Knots fleet of adapted, non-capsizing sailboats includes a Freedom 20 and four Martin 16s. Joystick autohelm and windlass controls, a dock lift and personal safety equipment are available to accommodate special needs. Y-Knot volunteers are experienced sailors who are familiar with the challenges facing disabled individuals.
